Robin’s RAMblings

Please join me in wishing our newsletter editor, Mike McEnery, a speedy recovery from his recent
surgery.

As most of us have noticed, this has been quite a nasty winter in the Chicago area. The day of
our holiday party we woke up to a blizzard. It has been difficult to explain to non-Chicagoans that
we went out the January afternoon the temperature rose to -12º. The wind chill was no longer -
30º and “cabin fever” had set in.

st
Friday afternoon January 31 saw another dreadful weather forecast. Depending on which
“expert” one consulted, eight to twelve inches of snow were predicted for our meeting day, Febru-
st
ary 1 . I checked with several board members. In the interest of safety, we decided to cancel
the meeting. We frantically started sending out emails and calling people. The Acronis webinar
scheduled for February 1 has been rescheduled for May 10. Let’s hope there is no snow that day.

We were scheduled to begin nominations for our April election at our February meeting. We will
now do so at our March 1 meeting. Be thinking about who you would like to nominate; remember
you can nominate yourself.

Member Phil Bock will present "Windows 8.1 Tips and Tricks" at our March 1 meeting. If you
have been working with Windows 8 and/or Windows 8.1, you should find this program to be very
helpful. For everyone else it should provide useful information when eventually upgrading to
newer technology.
